The music industry is a place where dreams can either flourish or fall apart. Marked by glitz, glamour, riches, and success, many industry hopefuls sometimes lose sight of what really matters – the music and the passion. Apollo Fresh is an exception to this trend. The bright and talented young rapper from Florida provides a beautifully inspiring outlook on what it means to be a music maker in this generation.

Apollo Fresh has always been confident in his pursuit of music. It’s a passion that hasn’t faltered since the beginning of his musical career, which dates back to his roots playing in the school band. After receiving high praise during middle school freestyle competitions, he put his genuine, recognizable talent to work. The artist soon began making music, and after the completion of his third song, he was hooked.

Inspired by the pop-culture phenomenon of Anime and artists such as Lil Wayne, Andre 3000, and Lauryn Hill, Apollo Fresh prioritizes putting lyrical cleverness and prowess into the mix. Perhaps of equal importance, the artist creates music that emulates good energy. The energy of anime shows inspires him, and he’s known for creating anime-inspired tracks which sometimes include references to his favorite series.

“I told my mom, ‘Anime is gonna blow up one day, and I'm gonna blow up with it.’”

With this unique approach to songwriting, he knows exactly what to give his audience. Take “Jojo Pose” as an example, a track garnering over 52 million Spotify streams and counting. The artist says he freestyled its entirety before piecing it together in Logic Pro.

“I knew it was gonna take off before I posted it," he explained. "I had been watching anime my whole life, so I understood the community so well. When I saw people on TikTok posting anime content, I started posting, too."

When he’s not recording music, Apollo Fresh is excelling in the classroom. Besides earning his degree in Entrepreneurship, the Florida Gulf Coast University graduate was chosen along with 20 other students to partake in rapper IDK’s No Label Academy, which took place at Harvard University in August.

Next year, Apollo Fresh looks to continue building upon the momentum of “JoJo Pose” by releasing an EP entitled Life Is Anime. He is excited to continue making music that appeals to himself and his fanbase, all the time remaining entirely authentic to his roots.

On a final note, he leaves readers with this advice: “To love themselves, give it their all, life is worth it…Appreciate yourself, believe in yourself.”
