BNZA
BNZA, a Toronto-based singer-songwriter and producer, is a grassroots artist producing songs that are a neo-soul spin of R&B. His songs are delightfully soothing—a murmured voice layered atop jazzy beats. Nevertheless, there is something unique about each and every one of his songs. This is most evident in his recent project Soul Tree. The album, composed of eight tracks including his most popular, “Fire”, is a shining display of top tier production. BNZA is planning on releasing a lot more music soon, so as always, stay tuned! We recently spoke to this artist about his start in music, side hobbies, and more!
How did you start making music?
I was in school and was conflicted about whether it was the right path for me. Also I had zero idea I was even going to pursue a music career but after a couple months of messing around with some song writing, which I did very privately, I finally made something that I actually liked. It’s an amazing feeling to create something that gives good vibes and I don’t think I will ever forget that feeling. I was very hesitant to show it to people and kept it to myself but my best friend told me to stop doubting myself and that’s that.
What’s your favorite song out right now?
My favorite song at this moment of time is “on track” by Tame Impala. That song just helps me transcend into a state of relief and it really speaks to me! Thanks KP!
Who would you choose for a dream collab?
Oh man. Probably The Weeknd or like G dragon from Korea.
Describe your musical style in 3 words.
Changes like seasons
What’s your dream venue?
Definitely MSG! It’s always been a dream to perform at a venue which is so rich with history.
When you aren’t making music, what do you like to do?
I’ve been really getting into golf recently. Let’s see how long that lasts haha. Basically anything active to keep my body cycled properly and to possibly flush out toxins from drinking too much beer from the night before. Oops.
What should we expect from BNZA in the future?
Expect a lot of more meaningful bodies of work and expect some dope shit! #morelife
