This year, she plans on releasing her debut EP, Jungle Sounds, which is sure to show off her abilities as a musician and songwriter. We recently spoke with Jacqueline about her favorite activities, how she started making music, and more!
How did you start making music?
I was always really into music and even from a young age I was always writing little songs. But around age 10, I started exploring music on my own, outside of what my parents exposed me to. I got really into rock and punk music at that time and decided I wanted to play guitar, so my parents bought me one for my 11th birthday. I formed a band and started writing songs and music pretty much immediately after that - even before I could really play the guitar. I kept it as more of a hobby for a really long time though and only in the past couple years have I gotten comfortable with sharing it and making it a serious endeavor. A late bloomer, you could say.
It’s your day off: How are you spending it?
I’d like to get a coffee and sit in a park in the morning, then meet up with friends. If it’s hot, maybe go to the beach. Otherwise, I’m happy to just hang out at home, maybe working on something creative or just watching movies.
If you weren't a musician, what profession do you think you would be?
Last summer, I completed my post-graduate studies in International Development and I’m really passionate about that. If I wasn’t focused on music, I’d like to be out in the world somewhere working on development projects. Particularly in the area of global health.
Who’s your choice for a dream collab?
Lately, I’ve been having the best time watching all the Studio Ghibli movies. So my dream collab of the moment would be to work with Hayao Miyazaki on a video or some art for the EP. For a strictly musical collab I’d love to work with Pvris. They’re making some really cool music that excites me.
Describe your music in just 3 words.
Raw, honest, inspired.
Where do you draw inspiration from when making music?
I draw inspiration from everything around me. My life, the people in it, the world, other music, movies, art. Really everything.
Any future projects for fans to get excited about?
My EP Jungle Sounds is coming out later this year along with a new single!
