Sweden’s premier dance-pop duo Jubël became synonymous with all things summer following the success of “Dancing In The Moonlight (feat. NEIMI)” in 2018. Four years after its release, the hitmakers continue to put out countless warm weather classics, the latest being “Diamonds” featuring 21-year-old Turkish phenom Aleyna Tilki. An ’80s action movie-style music video accompanies the song, breathing new life into the already addicting melodic pop synths. “Diamonds” naturally beckons a new era for the duo, who is always determined to “have fun and (never) stop exploring new sounds.” This open-minded nature has led Jubël to platinum records, hundreds of millions of streams, and international acclaim. We spoke to them about their latest single, traveling the world, and more.

"Diamonds” featuring the wonderful Aleyna Tilki is such a special track and we are so excited for this release! How are you feeling now that it’s out?

Victor: It feels really good and the feedback has been great. We’ve worked on this song and everything around it for so long and it’s always a special feeling when it finally comes out.

What was the inspiration for the track and how did the collaboration with Aleyna come together?

Victor: It started with the melody from a voice memo that Sebastian had. It actually went very fast to make our first draft – that demo is not that different from the actual single.

Sebastian: We had the rough demo of the song with us when traveling to London for some studio time. We got connected with Aleyna through some friends and she came by our session. We played the demo and she really vibed on it so we finished the song together. It was exactly what the song needed to take it to the right space. Her voice is really unique so it really took the song to the next level. She was a pleasure working with and we had so much fun working together.

When is the perfect occasion to listen to “Diamonds”?

Victor: We think it suits most occasions, but it has a bit of a “dark-pop” party feeling to it. So maybe the perfect place is at a party, barbecue, or at a pre-party with friends.

You guys have been releasing songs as a duo since 2017. What has been the most impactful advice that you’ve received during this time?

Sebastian: Have fun and don’t stop exploring new sounds. It’s easy to get stuck with a certain sound but we always try to stay open-minded and have fun.

Have your Swedish roots influenced your musical style at all?

Sebastian: Hard to say, but we are very melodic-driven. We always try to nail a good melodic hook. That feels like a Swedish type of writing music.

Your niche style of music has allowed you to travel all over the world. Which have been some of our favorite cities/venues to perform at and why?

Victor: We love LA, the inspiration is amazing over there!

Sebastian: And don’t forget the sun, we need the sun to create some summer vibing tracks which we are not very common over here. The lack of the sun could also be an explanation why we are creating summer tracks – maybe it’s just us sitting in the studio and missing it. Mindblown.

What does it mean to be a successful artist to you?

To be able to stay creative, work with people that you enjoy working with, travel the world, and have fun! Me and Victor have worked together for years and that friendship is so key in everything we are doing. We are a team and it’s a nice feeling knowing that you have that support. Also the people around us, we have a tight Jubël team that has been with us for years, and it really means the world.

Can you tease anything in regards to future plans and releases?

We have a lot of exciting music coming out with some really exciting artist, people we have wanted to work with for a long time and are inspired by. And also not being able to see our fans for two years took a toll on us. So our headline tour starting this September is really important for us, to be on the road again and meet people.
