Whether it’s Pop, R&B or Jazz; The Virginia native uses her musical upbringing to tackle a variety of different genres. She’s gone from performances at local music festivals to earning places on Spotify's “Fresh Finds” and “Canada Viral 50” playlists. Now earning over 720k streams on Spotify, she plans to continue this wave of success. We recently spoke with Koren about her life both in and out of the studio, plans for the future, and more!

How did you start making music?

I started making music when I was really young. I wrote a lot of short songs and jingles as a child. I wrote my first real song in 8th grade and my mom put me in keyboard lessons as a sophomore in high school. I’ve honestly have never stopped writing music since.

Your most successful song, “Ego,” is a hit. What other song would you recommend as a segway from “Ego” into the rest of your music?

Well, Thank you so much for calling "Ego" a hit! When I write music, I'm never thinking about which one is going to be the big song or the most successful one— so it is hard for me to say which one is going to catch on. I recommend that people listen to all my music and I believe that they will find something that they can relate to. “Fun” is about remembering that in the midst of chaos, it is okay to smile. “Perfect World” is about a WLW relationship. I know a lot of people relate to “I Can't Love” because we've all been there. “Lovesick” is a song I wrote at 19; I just felt like I owed it to my 19-year-old self to speak out about the tumultuous relationship that I found myself in at that time. All of these songs were produced by my good friend Unruly Muser who is so talented.

What can we expect from Koren Grace in the future?

Expectations, haha. I think what everyone should do is keep an open mind. Know that I love making music and that I want to grow and experiment with the way I do that. I want to reinvent ways to impress myself with what I can do. Expect that I will grow and evolve and if you think I'm worth that investment in your personal journey; Imma be here lol.

Who’s your partner in a dream collaboration?

My dream collab, wow. That's so hard to narrow down because there are so many elements in which I can do that. Rappers like Big Sean, Flo Milli, Remy Ma, Nicki Minaj, and Missy Elliot come to mind. Producers Dark Child, Mura Masa, Cashmere Cat, Mustard, and Timbaland too! And then singers like Lennon Stella, Kelis, Lizzo, and Ty Dolla Sign. The list is EXTENSIVE haha. This is just a small rambling of a much, much bigger list.

What’s a talent you wish you had?

I wish I was a polyglot. I wish I could speak 250 languages fluently.

How would you describe your journey in the music industry?

I would describe my journey in the music industry as....empowering. I have learned so much about myself through making my music and interacting with other people.

Favorite non-music activity?

Dude; I'm a girl who loves to do activities! I love kicking a soccer ball around, painting, crocheting, designing clothes, watching movies, and I like going to the beach and being in the water.
