Solicit
22-year-old Aron Kertesz, better known as “Solicit”, is a self-described “vibe creator”. The Toronto native has been surrounded by the world of music since a young age, learning multiple instruments throughout his adolescence. He started producing on Ableton Live around Grade 11, and has since strived to create “meaningful music”. This once-pastime now has turned into more than just a hobby; Solicit is now a significant player on the music industry scene with over 77 thousand monthly Spotify listeners. The chill vibes of 2018’s Daybreak EP along with an impressive collection of singles have earned the artist over 1.1 million plays on Spotify. His latest single, “dusk”, was released on August 11th. We recently spoke to the artist about producing his most popular hits, a dream collaboration, and more!
How did you start making music?
I started producing music around Grade 11, but music is something that has always been in my life. Whether it was taking piano lessons as a kid, teaching myself guitar, or playing an alto sax in the jazz band throughout high school, music has always been in my life one way or another. I remember truly being inspired to begin making music of my own during one of the first classes of the school year, where I had noticed a classmate using Ableton Live. I hardly knew anything about the software at that time, so I asked to see what he was working on, coming to find out that his work in progress was like the craziest dubstep song I’ve heard at that time, I was so blown away and inspired! I had no idea you could do such a thing simply with a computer, and I’ve been on this journey ever since!
What do you like to do when you’re not in the studio?
When I’m not in the studio, I try to be outdoors as much as I can. Exercising really helps me stay sharp, and I love a good hike every now and then. I’ve recently also tapped into my green thumb, gardening is pretty cool if we’re being honest here. I’ve recently started propagating a lace aloe succulent that I received as a gift, it’s so cool to watch them grow. Can also catch me watching a good movie or hanging out with the homeboys!
What was the last song you listened to?
“In a Book (Back to Me)” by Nick Leng. It came out last month and it’s already an instant classic for me.
“Someday” is one of our favorites. Walk us through making the song.
It was the summer of June in 2018, in the middle of a heat wave when I caught myself in my feelings and decided to get creative. I started writing the song by messing around on the piano and I remember immediately getting hooked on the progression and melody that flowed. It was like I had translated exactly how I felt into my music. I thought it would be neat if it had a 4 on the floor type of kick pattern following that as it was already at the 110 bpm mark. It was sorrowful yet it had a driving rhythm to it. As for the rest of the song I wanted to keep it an instrumental throughout adding vocal chops only to some parts of the song but I wanted to keep that same downtempo feel for the 2nd part as well. Took some time getting the transition right from the bridge to the 2nd part but I’m really happy with the overall result.
Who are you working with in the collab of your dreams?
I would love to work with Panama one day! All of his releases are amazing, he truly doesn’t miss and I feel like his vocals would be a great fit with my production!! Definitely check out his discography if you haven’t already, it does not disappoint.

Any future projects for fans to get excited about?
Yes! I have an orchestral electronic song that I teased on my instagram back in March, it’s so close to being finished and I’m looking forward to putting it out! Also working on snowfall [vol. 2] which is coming out in December, alongside a bunch more chill house songs that I’m excited for everyone to hear (they still need some time to marinate lol).
