Rising to prominence in late November of last year, it’s been ages since she’s had a video with under ten thousand--if not one hundred thousand--views. With 113.6 million likes over 713 videos, Aba is simply one of the most popular creators on the app. We recently spoke with @itsjustaba about how she got her start on TikTok, how the quarantine has impacted her TikTok career, and more!

Tell us a little about yourself. I love doing sports and staying fit. I have a passion for makeup and social media. I also love pets! I moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana at a small age.
Did you have any specific plans or ideas when you joined TikTok?
No! Just joined because it was a new app all of my peers had!
Where do you get inspiration from when making your videos?
I get my inspiration from a ton of different trends and makeup artists.
Which trends are some of your favorites right now?
I love transition videos and before and after videos with led lights and special effects.
How has the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic affected you, both as a TikToker and in your personal life?
As for as TikTok, quarantine has been a blessing. I have been so creative with my work and became so determined to produce the best content I could think of.

In less than a year, you’ve gained a huge following of over 3.2 million followers. How has such success changed your life?
I have 4.4 million followers now and it honestly is such a great feeling to know I have a bunch of people that care about me enough to watch my content. I now make a salary off of brand deals and promotions so that’s a bonus! The real treasure is having a bunch of little impressionable kids looking up to me, its so heartwarming and all I want to do is bring joy into their lives.
What are some of your favorite things you do outside of social media?
I love to do track and hang out with my boyfriend.

Anything special planned for the future?
I would love to do something in influencing and social media marketing! For now I have to finish my senior year and I plan on going to college.
