Tristan Rubiano
At only 19 years old, Tristan Rubiano is dancing his way to stardom. The Filipino-American TikToker is blowing up on the popular social media platform for his beyond impressive dance skills, as well as his collaborations with other dancers. In only 158 videos, Rubiano has managed to amass over 260k followers on TikTok, not to mention 4 million likes. When he isn’t nailing every dance that comes this way, Rubiano shows off his silly side by posting his bloopers, breaking an important social media stigma about the need for perfection. Though his dance skills are impressive, he’s multi-faceted when it comes to the world of dance, choreographing several dances as well, such as to the hit song “Latch” by Disclosure. We recently spoke with Tristan Rubiano about who he’s working with in a dream collab, how he got his start dancing, and more!
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi my name is Tristan Rubiano. I'm 19 years old and I am a filipino american.
Did you have any specific plans or ideas when you first joined TikTok?
I did have a plan to do dancing on TikTok, since a lot of other dancers were on there I wanted to show what I had as well!
You’re an extremely talented dancer, what sparked your love for dancing?
I started dancing when I was 7 years old. I just loved the way that the dance community was and I loved everything about dance. It is such an artistic way to express yourself and spread good vibes wherever you go.
Many of your videos feature you dancing to your own choreography, how long does it typically take for you to create new choreography?
For TikTok, it takes about 10-15 min to choreograph a new dance.
What’s the most difficult part about creating choreography?
The most difficult part is creating something new every time as I want to spark everyone's attention in new ways every video.
What’s a song that you have on repeat?
I have Juice Wrld's "Blood on my jeans" on repeat. He is my favorite artist and I love his music.
What’s a secret talent that you have?
I was never a gymnast but I taught myself how to do a back tuck and some other flips. I guess you can call that a secret talent.
Who’s a fellow TikToker that you’d love to collab with?
I would love to collab with Niana Guerrero. She is also filipino and she is such a great dancer. I feel like if we collabed we would be able to create for hours.
What are you planning for the future?
For the future I plan on creating a YouTube and just putting out as much content as possible. As much as I love to create I also love to entertain. I want my audience to know what I'm about and know what content they will be getting. At the same time I want to put out content that attracts new viewers and I would love to give them a show.
