“Uplifting, motivational, encouraging.” That was 3Breezy’s response when I asked him to describe his music in three words. And personally, I can’t agree more. Just listen to his newest single, “Self Love,” which I had the privilege of hearing at a press conference for the artist held by Universal Music Group’s internal creative solutions team, °1824.

An emotionally candid rap ballad about the plights of love and finding the one, “Self Love” pushes the perennial message that “...ain’t no better love than just loving yourself,” as tough as the quest for ‘the one’ might get. 3Breezy beautifully combines somber vocals with a catchy beat to provide listeners with the type of song you’d bump in your bedroom to remind yourself who’s boss. The track is eerily reminiscent of artists like the late Juice WRLD, especially in terms of the vocal technique in “Lucid Dreams.”

“Self Love” is 3Breezy’s latest release, but it’s nowhere near his first. The artist made his professional debut in 2020, a year that saw the release of five singles and an impressive debut album. And though he’s released nothing short of a plethora of solo songs, 3Breezy better prefers releasing long-form projects, citing the fact that albums “provide more content,” be it videos, pictures, or just plain promotional ideas. These are components that he believes are a central part of the music industry.

While the quality of 3Breezy’s music is unwaveringly high, he feels as if the best reflection of his artistry is the “Message To Her,” the fourth track off Murda She Wrote. The song focuses on a girl being guided through her life’s perils, including heartbreak. “It’s a good representation of what I want to do as an artist, how I want the rest of my music to sound,” the artist explains. Beyond the musicality of it, 3Breezy holds the song on a pedestal given the way it’s able to rather seamlessly tackle different narratives and touch upon different perspectives, another goal of his as an artist.

His one regret? He wishes he “started putting out music way before he did.” The regret has shrouded the artist in a lot of ’what-ifs, but he implores anyone with a passion to go for it. “You never know if you’ll fail or you’ll succeed until you try,” he says. In terms of his regret, that makes two of us, 3Breezy. It was an absolute pleasure to attend the press conference, and I’m excited to continue seeing acclaim on behalf of 3Breezy’s new single “Self Love,” streaming now.
