FVN

Born and raised in Copenhagen, Feven (known professionally as FVN) is an Eritrean female rapper who continues to demonstrate that rap’s got room for women. Empowering and reverberating, FVN’s rap anthems are sure to rouse the hearts of all those who listen; confidence oozes out of her witty lyricism, and the beat is always dance-worthy. From “Like Boom” to “Baddest” (feat. DJ John Vincent), FVN never fails to prove her worth. She made her debut just last year with the concurrent release of “Sunkissed” and “Mad Ting,” and has racked up over 80k Spotify streams ever since, not to mention places on the Spotify-curated New Music Friday Denmark and New Hip-Hop and R&B. In sum, it’s just the beginning for FVN. We recently spoke with the rising star about her songwriting process, music taste, and more!

How did you start making music?

This is a funny story; my cousin, who is my manager today, always tried to get me to make music cause he knew I could spit. I wasn’t really with it to begin with though, not because I don’t love music and rapping cause God knows I LOVE MUSIC, but I wasn’t really sure if it was for me to make, mostly because I love rap music so much and I didn’t want to disrespect the art.

What was the last song you listened to?

Okay, I just checked and as y’all now know I’m African so I listen to a lot of music coming from Africa too. The last song I heard is called “John Cena” which is by a South African artist called Sho Madjozi.

Your music is extremely lyrical. Take us through your typical songwriting process.

I write my music in all different types of ways but I would say the most “typical way” for me is when the beat talks so me. It’s like it’s taking me somewhere and when I’m at the destination I create a vibe. Sometimes with top lines first, other times with punch lines first, it depends.

It’s your day off: How are you spending it?

Wake up, go to the gym, make bomb breakfast while watching YouTube. After that, I will work on my other creative projects or hang out with me friends.

It’s collab time: who are you choosing to make a song with?

Omg there are sooo many. If I could choose anyone and I had to choose just one it will always and forever be Beyoncé. But to be honest there are so many female rappers I would love to work with and I’m talking from Uk rappers as Stefflon Don and Ms Banks to Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.

Which song is your most personal? Can you explain to us its significance?

The music I’ve put out hasn’t been that emotional but still personal. However I think the most personal I’ve written has been my feature on the song “Oh Ay Oh” by Fallulah.

Any future projects for fans to get excited about?

Yes indeed! My new single, “Work”, is out now! I hope for everyone to feel sexy and fierce when listening to the song no matter who you are, how you look and who you love.
