Pop punk is alive and well thanks to Arkansas’s Go For Gold. The band made their Spotify debut with their 2017 EP “Stranger,” bringing a sound that is wonderfully reminiscent of 2000’s rock culture. And, after years of mastering their craft, the five-man band continues to grow their devoted fan base through energetic vocals and guitar work. Go For Gold’s distinct sound has earned them tens of thousands of monthly Spotify streams and spots on four Spotify-curated playlists. Following their signing with InVogue Records, things are only looking up for the group. The band’s energy and charisma was demonstrated last in their May 2020 EP, “Color Me”. We recently spoke with the Go For Gold’s Spencer Vinson about their career highs, time spent out of the studio, and more!

How did you get started making music?

I’ve been attempting to make music for as long as I can remember haha. I always thought rock music was so cool and luckily I had great parents that always had the music up loud around me. When I was a little older, my parents divorced but they pretty much still kept their music tastes the same; they actually helped me buy my first guitar.

What do you guys consider your biggest accomplishment as a band?

I think playing our CD release show for our first LP “Daydreamer” was our biggest feat as a band. We had hundreds of people standing in line on one of the hottest days of the year to come listen to us play our music. Everyone was singing along and stage diving and having an awesome time. I’ll never forget that night and I don’t think any of the guys will either.

You just released your first EP under InVogue Records, “Color Me”. How’s it feel?

So far, it’s been pretty cool! It’s awesome to see how much of a response it’s gotten. It seems like we’ve turned some heads and I don’t think they’re ready for what’s coming next.

What method of release do you guys prefer most? Single, EP, or album? Explain.

Oh man, this is a tough one. I prefer EP’s because they can really set the tone for an album. Singles always build the most anticipation for the upcoming releases as well. I’m gonna go ahead and say singles are probably my favorite way of releasing content. It’s fun and entertaining just long enough for someone to care about it.

How do you guys spend your free time?

I normally spend a lot of time with my dog or my girlfriend, and when I’m not with them then I’m probably playing video games locked away in my room or listening to an album. The other guys spend a lot of time doing stuff similar, Jared’s working doing Physical Therapy work now, Jake’s got his own studio and spending time at his job, Garrett works as a teacher and spends time with his wife, and Aaron spends a lot of time with his wife as well.

Who’s working with Go For Gold in your dream collab?

In my dream collab it would be Go For Gold and Cloos Audio for the rest of our career. Nathan is incredible and I don’t think we could have had a better experience with someone else. If you ever need audio engineering work, that is your guy.

What’s next for the band?

Hopefully after the COVID-19 stuff slows down and everyone can return to their every day routine, I think we can turn some heads with what’s next. But I guess you’ll have to wait and see.
