INNR CIRCLE

INNR CIRCLE

Toronto-based alternative R&B artist INNR CIRCLE draws on his unique background and perspective on love to create a truly immersive listening experience. Although his career has been relatively short, he’s already seen much success; his single “Waves” has over 140K streams on Spotify alone. The artist has reached new heights as of late, earning a spot on Spotify’s Outliers, It’s a Bop, and Fresh Finds: Pop playlists. And with 20K monthly listeners, it’s clear that his large musical aspirations have been matched with a strong work ethic and an abundance of raw talent. Having already released four singles in 2020, we can only expect that he’ll be adding some more hits to his repertoire in the coming months. We recently spoke with INNR CIRCLE about the last song he listened to, his dream venue, and more!

How did you get started making music?

As a young man, I had a fascination with film and music. I had always wondered how in the hell people actually wrote songs that sounded that beautiful and films that looked that perfect. In my own head, I had to do one or the other. I've always sung as a child and people would usually turn their heads when I did to inform me that perhaps in the future I should think about a career in it. I never actually took it seriously because I started writing stories instead of music. Later on in my life, when I started to work and study, I realized that something was missing. The adulation of the crowds and the sensational feeling of truly making something people loved. So I hit up my friend Kyle on Facebook, since me and him at a young age promised each other we'd work together on music no matter what. I didn't know if he thought I was serious but when I came down to see him, he showed me a beat, and from then on I started to create music that people would go on to love.

What was the last song you listened to?

The last song I listened to was “deathbed” by PowFu. A strong and beautiful song about the memories of old, forgiveness, and hoping your loved ones do well and live happily. Great artist to listen to!

Who would be your dream collab?

In my head, I have many dream collaborations from Swae Lee to Lil Dicky. But one that I hope and dream comes to fruition, is a song and or album with J.Cole. This man was one of the biggest inspirations to me as a teenager— not only because he was a talented performer and writer but because he sang about things that happened in life. He made his music personable and he told a story. It wasn't just random rhyming and beat thumping, there was and is purpose and power to his music and if I could show him that I can also have the same effect in any regard, my life would be that much better.

Dream venue?

Since I am a born and raised Torontonian, my dream venue would have to be The Air Canada Centre. I've seen countless individuals perform there and it would be an honor and blessing to hear the cheers of the fans as they sing along to the words I sang for them.

What is your typical songwriting process like?

On any given day I usually get an idea or something has to happen for me to have a subject matter to write about. Either I wake up from a dream and write it down or I just get a feeling that I have something good in my head and that I need to write it down. It's mostly intuitive and it doesn't happen every day because one cannot force him or herself to pump out things daily. I believe in quality over quantity but if I could, I'd have a song written everyday and hopefully one day this will be my full time job and that's exactly what I'll do.

Any future projects for fans to look forward to?

I do have many songs coming soon to a headphone near you. The future is primed and ready for me to become successful. Thanks to my amazing manager and his angelic skills with people, marketing and music related things , we will be able to continue on this path of creation for a very long time. I am excited for the possibilities to come and even more excited about what I have to show the world.

Favorite non music activity?

As a former personal trainer, one of my favorite pastimes was initially working out and staying fit. As a young man I appreciated what bodybuilding was not for its gargantuan muscles but dedication to a form of whittling and sculpting. My eyes then focused squarely on something I haven't stopped doing since I was 13. Mixed Martial Arts.  It helped me zone in and it made me a stronger man due to the rigorous work ethic demanded by it. Without it I don't think I would've ever done music actually. It taught me alot about patience and virtues that helped me realize who I was as a person and what I truly wanted to do and become as an individual on this planet.
