Lilyisthatyou
“Moderation”
WIMITLA. SONG REVIEW
By Carly Bruce
If you loved either Euphoria or Netflix’s Bridgerton, you are going to LOVE Lillyisthatyou’s music video for her new single “Moderation”!
Maybe you found Lilyisthatyou from her edgy rhythmic pop song “FMRN'' featured on Spotify’s BBE, Salt or Et Alt playlists OR if you are anywhere near Tiktok, maybe you were one of the 82.1k videos made to her classic line from “FMRN”! With her latest release, “Moderation” is the party pop cousin song to “FMRN”. Continuing to push the lyrical boundaries of what a “good girl” should say, Lilyisthatyou is using her new visual to show you she is not afraid to walk the walk while she talks the talk.
The first scene feels like we are thrown straight into a Euphoria set! The bedroom details do not go unnoticed, especially with the crisp killer detail shots of the tipped over bottles and packs of butterfly cigarettes and satin tops laying around the room! With the pink lighting pairing magically with the blue’s in the cut out bodysuit we see Lillyisthatyou in (styled by Vanessa Cesario). I’m serious, were we just enrolled for Euphoria high?! As soon as we accept that we might be partying with Lily through the whole video… the vibe completely changes and we are now sipping tea in another girl’s room while we wait for the ball to begin downstairs.
Continuing through the video we see the same two very different characters in the same color of light blue, especially with their eye makeup (MUA Adam Oaknine). The color blue usually represents trust and loyalty. We can visually see that one character is royal, but do we think she would be loyal to the character living a completely different lifestyle on the opposite side of the wall? As the video progresses we can’t help but relate to the princess peeking through the hole in the wall to watch what is going to happen next with the party happening in the other room. Playing with lighting, and fun camera shots, we are truly sucked in to watch until the very end.
Diving deeper into the making of “Moderation”, Lily has made sure to sneak some BTS footage to her Tik Tok as well as releasing an official behind the scenes to her YouTube! We love good vlog videos featuring best friends! Lily with the help of Art Director Natalia Pomaranski and executive producer Juliana Carpino, with the rest of the team nailed the Gen Z boss babe vibes! Overall the official music video for “Moderation” was anything but moderate, and was an absolute smash of a visual.
