Maasho is back with another pop-rock anthem, and we are not complaining. His latest single, “strange,” proves once again his impeccable ability to shift from genre to genre. The song details the strangeness of a complicated breakup in the only way the artist knows how – with cathartic, melodic energy.

An infectious hook is only amplified by a strong guitar lead, setting the tone for Maasho not only as a vocalist but as a performer as well. Following the single’s release on September 8th, the artist released what can only be described as a must-watch music video. A live set staged in an abandoned desert structure is most definitely “strange” and even slightly unsettling; and yet, Maasho and his band members still perform like rockstars.

I could not think of a better place to set the scene - it just makes you want to pick up a guitar and start jamming, too. The lyrics are ingeniously relatable, and you feel every word throughout the performance.

This song is the first sneak peek into his upcoming EP abeswrld, where he aims to defy the industry standard once again. It's clear that Maasho is made for the stage, and I cannot wait to see him perform live in the future. 8.6/10
