“Expectations” were exceeded once again in Isa’s latest R&B-centric track. The Los Angeles-based musician gifts us with the first single off her debut EP, featuring a wondrous blend of timeless hooks, dynamic production, and universal relatability. The song is a true product of the quarantine, as Isa confronts an endless cycle of uncertainty, displacement, and depression. In doing so, she serves as a voice to the many who have felt the same.

Lyrics:

I know how low it goes

I’ve screamed my sounds

took days to come back around

Mid-pandemic songwriting chops have defined the industry over the past year and a half, and “Expectations" is no different. The artist explains that this latest release quite literally came together piece by piece. Pulling from 5 to 6 separate melodies, Isa combined them to form the track we hear today. An impressive feat, for one, but also a testament to the song’s vulnerable truths.

“Expectations” is the first single off Isa’s debut EP coming out on November 11th. The song is simply Isa at her finest and we can’t wait to hear the rest of the upcoming project. You can listen to Isa’s other releases by following the link below!
