To anyone who hasn’t experienced a toxic relationship before, keep scrolling… Okay, now that everyone is still here (lol), I have the perfect song for you. “You Piss Me Off” by North Carolina’s Solomon Fox encapsulates the myriad of emotions that you never signed up for, but had to deal with anyway. The lyrics of this fantasy breakup anthem sit on top of a perfectly textured Indie R&B production. The catchy guitar riff immediately hooks you in, only to be complemented by lush, lofi hip-hop drums and an effortless bassline that both contribute to the grooviness of the song. The 2x Grammy nominated producer layers his lush harmonies masterfully, and what makes his compositions so special is the intentionality of each bit and piece. His production is always clean and straightforward, proving that skillful production and instrumentation doesn’t need to be overly complex and extravagant. Fox has produced for artists such as Smino, EMELINE, Cynthia Erivo, and his duo Young Bull. However, his solo project reveals another layer to the multi-instrumentalist that most have yet to discover with his soulful and intimate recordings. There’s truly nothing that Fox can’t do.
