The Thing With Feathers
“We’ll Be Fine”
WIMITLA. SONG REVIEW
By Kenneth Tse
I have great respect for artists that can master the pop-rock formula, and The Thing With Feathers did this and more with their new single. It’s simply a feel-good track, one that’s built upon good vibes and summer relaxation.
“We’ll Be Fine” is a reminder that despite a tumultuous past year, better days are surely around the corner. Just take the first line of the song as an example: “Well I’m taking my time, if you would open your eyes I think our problems are all starting to fade.” These lyrics play in exceptionally well after the second chorus, where strong lead vocals are accompanied by an isolated guitar and drumline; I see this portion of the track killing it at a live show.
There are so many enjoyable elements to the song, but the one that sticks out most is that guitar hook. I think those Fenders drive the song in general, which is a testament to the band’s ability as musicians more than anything. In my mind, the song hits all of the right notes and is on par with “Figure It Out,” the band’s most popular release to date. I should also give a shoutout to their recent promo, which includes a crafty TikTok and a lyric video to match. They’ve done something special here. 8.4/10
