This is the return we all had hoped for Tove Styrke. The artist best known for her infectious pop melodies has simply evolved with the times, as this song hits all of the notes of a viral hit. “Mood Swings” details Styrke’s journey in finding her identity and path towards self-acceptance. It’s a stellar display of songwriting for the artist, who has never fallen flat in pouring her emotions into song. The music video only adds to the wondrous nature of the hook — we see the many sides of an artist who is only getting better with time. A month after its release, the song’s the hook — “I'm a mess, I'm a wreck, I'm a savage, But you keep coming back for this bad bitch” is still a stand-out bar for me. I can wait to hear what’s to come in 2021. 8.3/10
