Camden Strickfaden
Camden Strickfaden is one of the newest young entertainers to strike TikTok virality. Since his early August 2019 debut, a transition video, the rising star has managed to garner close to 300k followers and over 9 million likes, making him among some of the app’s most famous unverified creators. Going by the username @justcam_, the California native originally posted himself talking to strangers on the popular anonymous chat site Omegle; he has instead risen to prominence with POVs. Since becoming an influencer, the 18 year old bi creator’s since switched to lighter content, juggling between political humor and poking lighthearted fun at the comments on his videos. We recently spoke with Cam about his favorite aspects of tiktok, possible future career paths, and more!
Did you have any specific plans or ideas when you joined Tik Tok?
I initially joined TikTok as a joke just to see what the hype was all about back about a year ago in late July. Then I started getting more into it because of my friends and started to make my first videos.
Favorite non-social media activities?
Love the beach, shopping, and I'm now getting into photography and makeup. I wanna expand with my skills with a bunch of creative art activities.
Has being quarantined impacted your career in any way?
I think quarantine made me go through a quick mid life crisis considering I shaved my head, bleached it, and did kind of an overhaul on my TikTok content. Plus, quarantine was just at the end of my senior year which was also ending another huge chapter in my life. So, all in all, I think quarantine felt like the end of an era almost? Like my teen years from high school, middle, and elementary are over and now I'm starting a new chapter in my life.
What’s your favorite video you’ve produced?
I have a couple of favorites that I made mostly just getting outside of my comfort zone. For example, I made two videos, one recently where i made a crop top out of a shirt of mine and pulled a look together from that. It was a really fun experience and fun video to make. I think the more interactive and work oriented videos are the most fun for me because it feels rewarding at the end when the final product comes together.
If you could partner with another famous TikToker, who would it be?
I’d love to partner with Emmy Hartmen (emmwee). She's kind of my idol at the moment just because of her style and how she’s passionate about making a difference. I look up to her a lot.
Are you hoping to branch into a career with social media through your TikTok success?
One day, it could be a possibility to branch out and do something with TikTok. However, I just do it for fun and I'm not banking on it. I am attending college soon after all and it is a really cool hobby to keep for now.
