If you recognize the name Connor Weyer (a.k.a. @connor_weyer), don’t be surprised. He isn’t just a verified TikToker and member of The Viral House ZA (a Hype House-esque collective made of multiple popular South African creators), but also a content creator from the days of Musical.ly. Connor earned his influencer status way before TikTok even existed as it does today, and he’s continued that career into this new era of entertainment. Since he started, he’s amassed a following of 730K followers. In addition, his overall likes come out to 28 million in total. Those are numbers worth boasting about. We recently spoke with Connor about making videos, the life of an influencer, and more!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have always had a passion for technology and social media. I feel like I can be myself.
Did you have any specific plans or ideas when you joined TikTok?
I joined TikTok when it was still Musical.ly. Back then I was just messing around and having fun. Before I knew it I was known as an "influencer" and slowly but surely started growing.
Your content doesn’t seem to follow a certain niche. Where do you get inspiration from when making videos?
I usually make videos that I find enjoyable. I don't have a specific niche, I film according to whatever I'm feeling.
How has the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic affected you, both as a TikToker and in your personal life?
The pandemic allowed me to focus a lot more on social media, but also led to me getting bored very quickly. With regards to my personal life, I haven't been able to go out as often or see as many of my friends as I used to.
Who are you teaming up with in a dream TikTok collab?
In a dream TikTok collab, I'd be teamed up with Larray or Emma Chamberlain!
Which trends are some of your favorites right now?
At the moment, I'm loving the Euphoria trends. I also enjoy any trend that is related to comedy.
What is a secret talent that you have?
A secret talent that I have is that I'm pretty flexible in my back and hips, since I used to do gymnastics.
What are some of your favorite things you do outside of social media?
Outside of social media, I love to make plans with friends. I try and see my friends as often as I can.
What is your favorite song out right now?
Right now, my favorite song is probably “Electric Love” by BØRNS.
Anything special planned for the future?
I'm not 100% sure what the future holds, but I know that myself, with the Viral House, have some huge things planned. I'm looking at moving to Canada as well to focus more on social media and grow my platform.
