7DAY$
7DAY$ draws on an incredibly diverse set of influences in his music. The rapper has a familiar sound that is only enhanced by his distinct lyrical abilities. He dropped his debut single, “WenAway”, in 2018 and has been releasing consistently great music ever since. This year, he dropped his most popular single yet, “BOOMING”, which currently has over 30K Spotify streams. This was soon followed by the release his first album, Better Day$. The 14-track record has earned 7day$ a significant following, being a clear display of his talent as an artist. He’s been featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Hip Hop and Fresh Finds playlists, and currently has over 20K monthly listeners on Spotify. We recently spoke with 7DAY$ about his musical origins, his dream collab partner, and more!
How did you start making music?
I’ve been making since I was little. My father was a musician. I was always around music and took at stab at it, went to the Apollo, won twice, got booed, kept going, and ended up on Sway in the Morning. I changed my name to 7DAY$ and once I stepped out my comfort zone and doing different sounds, I started getting a lot of love for music.
You just released your first album, Better Day$, this year. How does it feel?
Releasing Better Day$ was dope. I worked on it for a year and half then COVID hit so I really couldn’t do anything but promote it and release new music. Overall, I feel good about it. We’re at a time in music where you can get noticed more since the music industry is on hold.
Did you order the songs in a specific way at all?
I did order the songs. I wanted people to get to know that I can do different styles and every song sounds different, but it represents parts of my life.
If you had to use one of your songs to describe yourself, which would it be? Why?
The song that describes me is “Rich”. Since I sell sneakers and take risks traveling to make money and take care of my family, “Rich” would describe me currently.
In the past, you've collaborated with Syph and Devontée. But, who’s your choice for a dream collab?
My dream collaboration would be Nipsey Hussle. Everything he stood for was great and he always provided something you can learn from. Tapping into business the right way, not just as an artist but as business. So dope man, God bless his family and soul. We lost such an incredible being.
What are you planning for the future?
My plan for the future is take care of my lady, my family, and learn everyday. Release music and my Better Day$ packages now that things have slowly started to open up. I’ve picked up some new trades and I’m thankful I’m alive to do so.
I know this wasn’t a question, but the last thing I want to say to anyone reading this is do not quit. Life will be hard, and you will hear more “no’s” than “yes’s”, but don’t quit. First time I came to LA , I rode a bus for three days to make my dream come true. Anything is possible.
Rest In Peace
To Littles.
