Betcha

Nashville’s Betcha appears to be alt-rock’s next best thing. The 4-piece band met in college and has been pumping out electrifying music ever since. Recent songs like “July” and “California” show off the wonderful talent of members Ben Booth (lead guitar), Taylor Dubray (bass/keys), Charlie Greene (vocals/guitar), Chase Wofford (drums). They are just two of the hits that have garnered the group international recognition and a quickly growing fanbase. In their four-year tenure as a band, Betcha has already accomplished a great deal: The guys have toured nationally alongside big alt names such as Kaleo and Matt Maeson, and even signed a record deal with Atlantic Record in 2019. Whether it’s a rousing rock anthem or a more wistful piece, one thing is certain: Betcha never fails to deliver. We recently spoke with the band about their tastes, being in a band, and more!

How did you start making music?

We all met through mutual friends at school. Charlie and Ben began as an acoustic duo, a year later Doobie joined, and then we stole Chase from another band he was playing with. The first show we ever played together was our school’s Battle of The Bands, which we won, so we knew that we had something special.

It’s your day off: How are you spending it?

We love exploring any city we are touring in, especially on the west coast. If we are at home we like to go play golf and shoot hoops.

What was the last song you listened to?

“Eternal Summer” by the Strokes. They are such a great band and this song has strong summer vibes.

Describe your music in just 3 words.

Alternative stoner (pop) rock.

It’s collab time: who are you choosing to make a song with?

Rick Rubin! We have been listening to a lot of Broken Record podcasts where he has conversations with a bunch of different artists. He has worked with some of the best bands of all time and we would love to get a piece of that wisdom.

What are the best and worst things about being in a band?

The best part is working on new music together and collaborating together. We all bring very unique skills and thoughts to the table so working on new music together is always very fun. The worst part is definitely hauling all of our gear around. Loading out after a show during the summer gets reallllll sweaty.

Any future projects for fans to get excited about?

We are in the middle of finishing our upcoming EP right now! We have been working on these songs for the past year and are really excited to share them with the world. Stay tuned for upcoming tunes.
