What a year it has been for Eduard Martirosyan-- in the midst of the pandemic, the Armenian/Russian creator began on the TikTok app by chance. After creating a video with his friend, he was soon inspired to create his own content. It was less than half a year ago since Eduard first went viral-- content incorporating his cultural background was and continues to be a mainstay on his account. The video he is most known for, saluting Russian President Vladimir Putin, currently has over 48 million views! As humble as ever, Eduard credits his “handwork and consistency [as] the biggest reasons for [his[ fame on TikTok.” Whatever the case may be, it is clear that he is doing something right. His account currently rests at 1.7 million followers with over 54.5 million likes. We recently spoke to the viral star about his cultural background, a dream TikTok collab, and more!

Eduard! Thanks for speaking with us today. Tell us a little bit about yourself-- how did you get started on TikTok?

I am an Armenian/Russian boy that moved to the US in 2010 when I was 12 years old. I started on TikTok during the quarantine. I started on the 24th of June. It all started randomly from an unplanned video that my friend made of us. For some reason that day after making my first TikTok it made I realize that I want to start posting videos on TikTok.

You often incorporate your cultural background into your videos. Is this always something you've always wanted to do with your content?
I had ideas of implementing my cultural background into my videos but it was never something that I always wanted to do with my content. However, ever since I made my first Russian video and it went viral I decided to continue posting about my cultural background.

You really rose to social media fame with your TikTok reaction videos. Is there one that sticks out to you as being your favorite to make?

Yes, that is definitely a big part of my rise on TikTok. I would say the reaction that sticks out to me the most would be the video of me saluting Vladimir Putin which is currently at 48 Million views.

What can we catch you up to on your days off?

On my off days, I like to study, work out, and come up with new TikTok ideas.

What has been the biggest perk of your TikTok fame?
The biggest perk of the TikTok fame for me is the fact that I get messages on the daily of people saying that my content makes them happy and makes their days better. Knowing that there are people that love my videos drives me to make more content. Being stopped by strangers in public and hearing them say that they love my videos brings the most joy to me.

How has the pandemic affected your ability to create content?
The pandemic was honestly a blessing because I truly believe that if it wasn't for the pandemic I do not think that I would ever get started with TikTok. The fact that I had plenty of time on my hands during the beginning of the pandemic, allowed me to get started with TikTok and somehow gave me the motivation to keep myself busy. However, it is definitely unfortunate that there is a pandemic because it affects possible collaborations that could have happened.

Share a real-life experience that led to the making of a TikTok.
One day I decided to hang out with two of my girl friends. I've been friends with them for many years so that day we weren't doing much. In fact, we were just parked at Ralph's parking lot. We decided to go to Ralphs and make a TikTok video. During that time I had no idea how to even use the app. However, the next day came and I started getting more familiar with TikTok and started posting daily. On the 7th day of my posting daily I went viral and went from 100 followers to 12k within few days. When that happened it motivated me to keep posting.

Who are you teaming up with for a dream TikTok collab?
Addison Rae or Noah Beck. They get a lot of hate for some reason. However, I think they are one of the best if not the best creators of TikTok.

If you could have one superpower, what would that be and why?
I would want to be able to fly. I think nothing is cooler than being able to fly. When I was a little kid I was always jealous of birds for some reason. It was always so fascinating to me so I would say flying is definitely a superpower I would want to have.

Who do you owe your biggest thanks to?

The Pandemic and myself. Bragging is something I hate to do. However, the only person that I owe the biggest thanks to is myself because I know that if It wasn't for my drive I wouldn't be where I am today. I genuinely believe my handwork and consistency were the biggest reasons for my fame on TikTok. I don't that many creators post 6 videos every single day.

Lastly, what’s next for Eduard Martirosyan?
I am going to continue creating new content on TikTok. I also have a lot of ideas that I want to do in the near future. I don't want to give out any ideas yet. However, I would like to say that a lot of exciting things are next for me and I know the year 2021 is going to bring lots of new opportunities in my life.
