Hey Kelly! Thanks for speaking with us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get started on TikTok?
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’ve always had a passion for helping people but wasn’t sure how I wanted to do it. Content creation has been my hobby for as long as I can remember! I was introduced to TikTok by a friend showing me a funny video. I downloaded the app in late 2019 and shortly after I started posting things I love to do like DIY’s, recipes, and organizational videos which blew up out of nowhere!
You have been killing it on the app lately with over 3.6 million TikTok followers and 110 million likes! What has this journey been like for you thus far?
I started TikTok a little over a year ago and it’s been so crazy, I never thought any of this would be possible for me. I’ve come across so many opportunities along the way which I am so grateful for. The amount of support I receive is unreal. I feel so blessed to have this platform and so many amazing supporters.
What has been the best perk of your TikTok success?
Honestly the feeling of being accepted! My supporters are a huge part of that.
With such an audience, do you ever feel pressured to make content? If so, how do you overcome that?
I don’t ever feel pressured to make content. It’s my passion, I love doing it. I would even post more if I had the time. I take breaks when I need to/when I’m not in the mood to post but that hardly ever happens. My supporters are really understanding when this does happen and even tell me they missed me haha. It’s so sweet I love it!
Has the pandemic affected the way you make content at all?
100% I have a full-time job and fortunately, I am able to work from home so I have more time and flexibility for creating content. I feel like Tiktok had a huge boost in the number of downloads during this time which has also helped boost my views and engagement on this platform in particular.
Your content is truly one of a kind, haha. Does any, one video come to mind as being your favorite to make? Why so?
Definitely the recipe videos haha. I love baking and trying new things. I just have a blast making these.
How do you typically get inspiration for your content?
When there’s a project that needs to get done around the house the first place I check is Pinterest! I love getting color scheme/ decor ideas and putting my own style into them with the finished product.
Your YouTube channel seems to be really doing well, too! What made you take this direction with your content?
I actually started off on YouTube first. I was a sophomore in high school. I really enjoy being able to create longer videos with some of my content. It really helps my supporters get to know me and my personality a bit more!
What can we catch you up to on your day off?
Netflix/Hulu a face mask and food.
If you could collaborate with any other TikToker, who would they be and why?
Oh gosh, there are so many! @lizzo @24kgoldn @suburban__prince sooo many more!
What is one thing that you would tell your younger self?
I would tell myself to start social media early. I use to stress a lot as a kid so I would also tell myself that things happen the way they are supposed to happen and I need to stop being so hard on myself.
Lastly, do you have anything to plug? What’s next for @HoneyBobaBear?
In the works of creating a new line of merch. The current one is still available! As for everything else at the moment I am just working on building myself online. Hopefully, in the future, I will have something more exciting to say haha
