“It all started as a joke,” he says. But it seems as if, if that’s the case, some of the best, most opportune things can arise out of a jovial nature. Hailing from Micronesia, Stoudamire Meninzor, known as @notstoud_ on TikTok, is a creator based in Los Angeles with over 536,000 followers. Between his 520 videos, he’s amassed an impressive 9.6 million likes and growing social media following. What can you find on the up and coming creator’s page? a healthy mix of trends, dances, and videos detailing his relationship, all of which seem to do him well. He seems to be making it big in L.A.— and his advice for newcomers? “Just have fun, enjoy where you’re at right now because not everyone gets the chance to travel especially out in LA,” he says. “[And] don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.” We recently spoke to Stoudamire Meninzor about his experiences with both “Old” TikTok and “New” TikTok, the ways in which TikTok has impacted his life, and more!
Let’s start off with some basics; tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get started on the app?
It all started as a joke, I didn’t think I would be pursuing social media as a career. I was born on a small island called Micronesia and then I came to the U.S when I was 5 years old.
It hasn’t taken long for your account to blow up -- in less than a year, you’ve gained over 532k followers! What has this experience been like for you?
The experience has been bumpy because of the fact that I had to restart when my first account got banned at 370k but I’m happy about where I am.
Your account is all about the dance trends. Which have been some of your favorites on the app so far? What’s one that you’d like to bring back?
Old TikTok is what I want to bring back, it was mainly a dancing app and then it got a little out of hand. But I guess that’s the good thing about TikTok! You can be yourself and use your creativity for whatever you want.
In what ways has TikTok changed your life?
Tiktok has changed my life drastically because of the fact that I actually can make money just by filming a 15 second video for everyone to be happy about while watching.
If someone was in LA for only a day, what would you tell them to do?
Just have fun, enjoy where you’re at right now because not everyone gets the chance to travel especially out in LA. Also don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would that be and why?
I would live in Hawaii because I miss the island vibes.
Who are you teaming up with in a dream TikTok collab and why?
I want to team up with as many dancers in one video as I can because I feel like dancing is another form of communication and its fun!
